Skateboarding and its culture
Skateboarding has become a popular sport for the past three decades and is quite modern. In fact, skateboarding existed since 1980, which happens to be the year when the first modern skateboard was made. Since then, both young and not so young enjoy carving the streets and experience the adrenaline rush of free riding, trick Skating, and the like.
Skateboarding is deeply influenced by and derived from the art and sport of surfing. Surfing, developed and anchored in Hawaii, is the act of riding waves with a surfboard. Similar to surfing, skateboarding entails riding a skateboard on land, and more specifically, paved or concrete surfaces. Skateboards are made in different styles and made with different skating methods in mind.

New (Ice only) hockey player. Rec or ‘Hockey’ inline skates for cross training?
Its been a few years since I’ve played Ice hockey and now I am getting back into it. Unfortunately I am WAY out of shape.
I am getting some rollerblades for cross training and am trying to decide if I should buy ‘hockey’ skates or ‘fitness’ skates?
The hockey skates will feel more like my ice hockey skates, but if I am just doing it for the conditioning and regaining some leg muscle will it matter? I’d certainly enjoy the Skating more in the comfortable fitness skates…

UMD’s MAROON LOON?
does anyone remember him Skating on STILTS at the university of minnesota duluth bulldog hockey games??? i would love to try that! any suggestions??????
ANYONE else remember him????? i need some details.
We’ve had season tickets to UMD’s games for years, yet I don’t remember him being on stilts! Apparently I have a bad memory! I do miss having him at the games though as he was very entertaining. My daughter was very proud that he gave her a hockey puck once too. It’s too bad he’s officially retired.
